They are you – the fans – when you visit an A1 race you will have the best view to pass on to other A1 fans world-wide.
Whether it is Good, Bad or Indifferent – Your views will provide an alternative to the official PR that can be very annoying to many fans.
But more importantly you can report not just on the action but also the overall package on and off the track!
This all started back during Season 1, 2005-06, following comments from you the fans.
You were not impressed with the ‘bland’ official press releases at the time and wanted something better.
Then we had an idea!
But first we had to put it to A1GP before mentioning it to you the fans — after a few conditions were discussed A1GP gave us their approval.
We were fully accredited with A1GP for Press and Photo coverage at the races and attended all UK based tests and races already.
Now our idea was to find fans in countries around the world where A1GP were holding a race and get one of them, in each country, Press Accreditation on our behalf – this would be an unbelievable opportunity for a fan to get into the inner work space of A1GP over a 4 day weekend.
In return they would post a report back here each day about what they saw, heard and their thoughts plus as many photos as their camera card could hold.
This way A1 fans could read reports from A1 fans not PR people.
Our first recruit in Season 2, 2006-07, was Chris Bloom, Durban, South Africa, who was a true A1GP fan. More followed in Season 3, 2007-08, and this feature began to pick up speed until Season 4 when A1GP, powered by Ferrari, went all ‘F1′ and only wanted mainstream press and pulled our Press Accreditation. A1GP branded us ‘just a fan website’ as though that was something nasty.
As A1GP returns we are talking to them about this feature which we will look to include again.
